being brave…
being brave…
that statement can relate to a broad landscape, right? I have heard that term thrown around in groups of young kids at Starbucks, on the playing field of a local sports game in a small town, or even from politicians trying to sway emotion and get your vote.
I would like to share with you however the context of how this was delivered to me yesterday (last saturday).
In my shop. By total strangers.
And it made my day.
A group of lovely ladies visiting from Scappoose entered and strolled around a few times. I could see they were very intentional and aware of every item in the shop. After a bit of casual conversation, one of the ladies looked at me and asked me about the witchy vibes along with the healing and beautiful items. I asked her to elaborate on that comment (i have had less than appropriate interactions with other ladies in the past) and she quickly reassured me she meant no offense.
She wanted to congratulate me on being brave. Her exact words…Brave.
And that stopped me dead in my tracks. Me…brave? For what? And she said for not being afraid of bringing out to light other healing modalities other than traditional western medicine or traditional western religion.
I thought I was just doing the norm over here. I had no idea that I was edgy with my teas and crystals, candles and books.
I say all of this to say…there is a reward in being genuine. In being authentic. You may not always be someone one’s cup of tea, but that is okay. The world has enough superficial and fake people who have no substance of their own. The world we live in currently is filled with cookie cutter copy cats with no originality and ready to bully you if you are outside the social media culture.
You have a special gift that makes you YOU, and the world needs the light and spark you have to share.
So the next time you feel vulnerable and afraid when showing a truer and deeper more authentic you, GO FOR IT! Allow the experience to help you grow and allow others to grow with you!
